The Opportunity

Join our dynamic team as the Director of Programs and be part of our journey to make a real difference to the Greater Victoria community!  Reporting to the Executive Director, you'll be supporting a team of 7 Program Managers to deliver and enhance our client programming.  As a key member of our leadership team, you'll ensure program alignment with organizational strategy and drive excellence across all program areas.

THRIVE has been a trusted partner in enhancing lives in Greater Victoria since the 1980s.  As a dedicated non-profit agency, our mission is to provide a wide-range of services that help individuals and families build their skills, strengths and resourcefulness.

We operate on a $6.5M budget through service contracts with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) and Community Living BC (CLBC). Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

What You’ll be Responsible For:

Program Leadership - People Leadership - Administrative Oversight - Community Engagement

Program Leadership:

  • Leading and supporting the management team in delivering and developing exceptional people-centered programming.
  • Guide management and leadership team members to grow, find solutions, plan their work, and deliver desired results.
  • Collaborating with the team on program development in alignment with strategic goals
  • Ensuring adherence to industry best practices and accreditation standards
  • Analyze organizational processes and facilitate ways to enhance work planning, work quality, productivity and impact
  • Monitoring and reporting on program outcomes and improvements

People Leadership:

  • Coaching and providing guidance to support the management team’s growth and development
  • Supporting the team in their delivery of excellent people practices including hiring, training, and performance feedback
  • Fair and consistent application of the Collective Agreement
  • Fostering a positive and vibrant team culture

Administrative Oversight:

  • Overseeing program budgets, and assist in developing future plans and budgets
  • Monitoring agency-wide service levels and contractual agreements
  • Leading the effective implementation of agency policies and practices
  • Overseeing the maintenance of accurate client records and data management

Community Engagement:

  • Building collaborative external relationships with other agencies and stakeholders
  • Representing the agency with external relationships and community partnerships
  • Gathering feedback from external stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness

Education, Training, and Experience: 

What You’ll Bring

  • Personal alignment with the organizational values of collaboration, courage, and integrity
  • Strong motivation to, and demonstrated success in, leading a professional management team in a collaborative and positive culture
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated success (5+ years) leading in a social-services setting (building, delivering, and evaluating programs)
  • Solid understanding of budgets, collective agreements, reporting and accreditation standards
  • Undergraduate degree, or higher, in a relevant field
