Joanne Hurtig

With Thrive since 2015

Joanne was invited to join the PHS Board of Directors in 2015. She held the position of president from 2016 to 2018. Joanne spent most of her career in the social services field and owned a small agency that provided residential services to MCFD. Joanne was also a board member of what is now the Federation of Community Social Services of BC and chaired the Membership Committee for several  years before moving into government. After retiring from her MCFD, contract Joanne was offered a position as Executive Assistant for the Minister of State for Early Childhood Development. She also held positions as Executive Assistant at the Ministry of Health and then as an Executive Coordinator. She retired from government in 2012. Joanne was looking for a way to stay involved in the social services field when she was invited to join the Phoenix Human Services Board of Directors. She currently holds a contract as a foster parent for MCFD and is caring for a seven-year-old boy.
