Community Living Support Worker

Wage/Salary: $21.63 per hour (plus 10.2% in lieu of vacation and statutory holidays, as per Collective Agreement)
Location: Joan Crescent, Victoria, BC
Hours of Work: Monday – Friday; 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Job Summary: 

Ensure the well-being of participants in the program and promote their skill acquisition, development, and success in community living.

 

The health and safety of our team and communities is paramount to Thrive Social Services Society. Accordingly, we require anyone joining our team to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Plan, organize, and implement recreational, social, and/or educational activities and programs designed to meet the needs of clients. Activities take place within the agency facilities or in the community. Service may be individualized or in a group format.
  • Identify community resources that will support participants’ needs.
  • Maintain written reports regarding participants’ daily activities and progress.
  • Provide a high level of personal care and behavioural support to participants.
  • Demonstrated ability and comfort level in working with highly challenging and aggressive behaviour. Physical redirection of behaviour may be required and expected of all program staff utilizing SIVA techniques.

Education, Training, and Experience: 

A diploma in human services or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years previous work experience is required.
  • Demonstrated direct experience in working with adults with a disability in a community living setting.
  • Direct program delivery experience in community social services sector with a demonstrated working knowledge of community supports and government programs.
  • Good written and verbal reporting skills.
  • Knowledge of theory, principles, and practices of community living.

Additional Information: 

A moderate to good level of physical fitness, as there is a high level of physical support required by participants in the program.

Valid driver’s license.
