Hours of Work: 35 hours; flexible hours, Monday through Friday but may involve some evening and weekend work.
Job Summary: 

The position involves the provision of supportive mental health services to children and/or youth, and their families and/or caregivers in an outreach capacity. Services provided include mental health assessment, individual counselling, family work/mediation, crisis intervention, social skills training, psycho-educational training, advocacy and elements of case management.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Demonstrated expertise across a wide array of child/youth mental health disorders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of assessment, treatment modalities, case management, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Ability to consult and collaborate with medical and community professionals, agencies, schools, and other services.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and report writing.

Education, Training, and Experience: 
  • Undergraduate degree in Human Services, preferably Child and Youth Care or Social Work.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working with high-risk children and youth and their families, with at least 2 years in a mental health setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of community supports and services typically accessed by children, youth, and their families referred to the program.

Additional Information: 
  • This position provides services in a stressful environment, often dealing with crisis situations and requires conflict resolution skills.
  • The use of a vehicle in good working order with business insurance and the ability to transport clients and/or children is required.
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA) certification required.
