Foundry offers youth (and the folks who love them) connection, tools and support in living a good life.
Opening 2026, Foundry West Shore & Sooke aims to work closely with local health authorities and community service providers to deliver integrated services for youth and young people 12-24 and their families in the West Shore, Sooke and Port Renfrew region. We will work with partners to determine services and supports in the areas of mental health, substance use, physical & sexual health care, social services, and peer support!
Services will include access to mental health and substance use supports, physical & sexual health care and peer support. Working collaboratively with our community service providers, we hope to also provide access to social services and other meaningful programs and services that meet the needs of youth in the West Shore, Sooke and Port Renfrew region.
Since our project launch June 5, 2024, we’ve been getting organized and welcomed our Director of Implementation on August 6th. Kathy Easton knows our community and has hit the ground running, already bringing community youth, family, caregivers and local leaders together to talk about next steps.
The Foundry will be building on the solid foundation of The Village Initiative (The Village) who wrote the successful Foundry application for the West Shore, Sooke and Port Renfrew region.
In August 2024 we will convene the first meeting of Youth Leaders who will support the development of our Youth Advisory Circle. Our planning places youth at the centre of decision making ensuring that youth and young adults with lived experience and those who support them are informing the process right from the start.
Through fall 2024 we will recruit and convene our Leadership Advisory Circle and continue community and service provider engagement around the needs of youth 12-24. We will also continue to look at the best locations for a hub in the West Shore and offices in Sooke and Port Renfrew. We expect a project timeline of approximately 2 to 3 years to service implementation.
If you are a young person or supporting a young person, you can find out more by dropping by to see us at an upcoming community event, reaching out to us via email, or subscribing to our newsletter to receive regular updates about the Foundry centre coming to serve the West Shore and Sooke communities.

Our Thrive team acknowledges that our agency stands and works on the unceded Lək̓ʷəŋən territory of the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations. We also acknowledge the five W̱SÁNEĆ communities: W̱JOȽEȽP (Tsartlip), BOḰEĆEN (Pauquachin), SȾÁUTW̱,(Tsawout) W̱SIKEM (Tseycum) and MÁLEXEȽ (Malahat), as well as the Sc'ianew (Beecher Bay), T’Sou-ke, and Pacheedaht Nations and the Spune’laxutth’ (Penelekut) tribe where our work extends. We are committed to acknowledging our relationship with these unceded lands and communities, at staff and Board meetings, and during our hosted events. We encourage the evolving learning and awareness of our staff, Board, and the Thrive community, discovering and striving for meaning and personal connection within each acknowledgement.
