Employment

The Thrive Employment program helps adults over 19 with developmental disabilities achieve success with employers and fuller participation in their community.

The Thrive Employment program is funded through Community Living BC (CLBC) and helps create employment success for adults over 19 with developmental disabilities, and for their employers. Our goal is to enhance the lives of these adults by promoting full citizenship and participation in the community.

Community-based employment promotes social and community inclusion, expanding skills and abilities, financial independence, increased social networks, improved sense of belonging, and self-confidence.

Supportive Employment involves discovering clients’ skills, abilities, interests, strengths, and support needs, assistance with resume and cover letter development and distribution, setting up interviews, and coordinating worksite/employers visits. Once a client is hired, we work with them and their employer to negotiate tasks, provide job coaching, and on-site job support with anything to help promote job success.

How do you get into this program?

Anyone 19 years or older, and who is eligible to receive services through Community Living BC (CLBC), may be referred to Employment Services. If you are not already connected to CLBC, please call them at 250-952-4203 and tell them you would like to be referred to Employment Services.

Need some guidance?

Our Thrive team acknowledges that our agency stands and works on the unceded Lək̓ʷəŋən territory of the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations. We also acknowledge the five W̱SÁNEĆ communities: W̱JOȽEȽP (Tsartlip), BOḰEĆEN (Pauquachin), SȾÁUTW̱,(Tsawout) W̱SIKEM (Tseycum) and MÁLEXEȽ (Malahat), as well as the Sc'ianew (Beecher Bay), T’Sou-ke, and Pacheedaht Nations and the Spune’laxutth’ (Penelekut) tribe where our work extends. We are committed to acknowledging our relationship with these unceded lands and communities, at staff and Board meetings, and during our hosted events. We encourage the evolving learning and awareness of our staff, Board, and the Thrive community, discovering and striving for meaning and personal connection within each acknowledgement.
